ja gedacht haben die sich was dabei, nur ging es da nicht um Leistung sondern darum das die Bauteile kompartibel mit z.B. OEM teilen sind.
sse war in japan:
lustig is ja, dass spoon augenscheinlich "fremd" geht mitm toyota?
I try to visit Spoon at least once a year. I went twice in 2010 and didn’t manage in 2011 but on my way back from WRC New Zealand this year it was irresistible.
Ichichima San the Spoon founder and Endurance racing maestro was in Bangkok Auto Salon at the weekend and unfortunately was ill on his return so my meeting was held with Yuki Imanada, his long serving general and Spoons' longest serving employee of 25 years. Yuki is a great guy and whilst we deal through an interpreter it is quite clear that he has a wealth of knowledge.
As ever, there is lots going on, Rigid Collars are getting the most attention and worldwide sales are simple astronomic. Fake Rigid Collars keep appearing and disappearing as people generally are not happy with fakes that haven't been tested.
Development has slowed on the CRZ with the product range being typically Spoon - Straightforward, high quality and high performance. Spoon have a race car and a road going demo car. The street demo car was at Type One but the race car was at Auto Salon Bangkok.
The big news (for us anyway after months of trying to develop our own) is that the AP1 Twin Muffler is now available. This is due in part to the EU demands and we will be rolling this out to our customers shortly.
Spoon are currently reviewing the product range and some previously discontinued parts are coming back into the products range after several years off the catalogue. This is due to shifts in market trends in the different regions. For example, the Japanese drivers don’t think twice to modify a new car but in the US and EU we hold fire until the car is a bit older. This is down to the manufacturers attitude to warranty and the demographic of the customers and the country. This should be rolled out in 4 weeks.
Spoon have got in place the Worldwide patent for Rigid Collars and this should see off the copiers. Many thousands of hours and thousands of pounds have been spent on development of the kits for each car using a secret special metal and the patent will protect this investment. A car fitted with inferior designs is dangerous, simple as that.
Obviously with Ichichima being away, we didn’t get to discuss the hot topic which is the development of parts for the Civic Type R, due for release next year in the UK. Watch this space.
The workshop is getting an overhaul at the moment so was (by normal standards anyway) a bit empty.
A few tidy AP1 were having service work and one was having a set of CR wheels and Spoon wheel nuts
Sat in the corner was a Toyota 86. Stunning in White, this was a motorsport version etc. etc. (Get stuff off net). Spoon have already made brakes to fit and a strut brace (Pictured). Watch for more developments. This car will be the most developed car for years. Toyota released drawings to the aftermarket tuners and to me this sets their stall for the future. Spoon will concentrate on developing parts that no one else will. Typically Spoon but this is the first foray into another manufacturer for years apart from Rigid Collars.
There was a S2000 race car back from the bodyshop after a Super Taichu shunt. Looking resplendent in the traditional Spoon colours, these weapons always get the blood pumping. Shame I couldn’t fit in it!
There were few secret projects going on as always and these remain so but rest assured Spoon are very busy as always staying at the forefront of the business.
Falls jemand das nötige Kleingeld über hat.
